Swimming Lessons

Summit Athletic Club offers both small group swimming lessons for children as well as private lessons for children and adults. Group swimming lessons are offered throughout the summer and are limited to 5 children per group. Private lessons are taught year round and are one on one sessions that are scheduled at your convenience. Our aquatic staff is highly trained and experienced in all levels of instruction from small children and beginners to national level athletes and triathletes. Just need to beat the desert heat? We have 2 outdoor hot tubs, outdoor lap pool, kiddy pool, snack bar, and more! Be sure to come by and see all the great aquatic programs we offer.

Pool Etiquette

We would like everyone to have an enjoyable time her at the summit. Please follow these simple rules so that everyone can continue to enjoy our aquatics department.

  1. Please be prepared to share- Our aquatics department has grown, because of this we ask that you share lane space when the pool is busy so that everyone can enjoy our pool.
  2. Be familiar with the schedule- We have added several programs to the aquatics department, all of which will vary depending on the season. Please make sure you have the most recent pool schedule (you may pick one up at the front desk). Available lap lanes are indicated but please remember that these available lap lanes may be filled by members, again please remember to share.
  3. Lap swimmers have priority- We are a family friendly facility however, Our pool is a lap pool and lap swimmers will have right over “leisure swimmers”. In the spring and summer seasons please follow “open lane” signs, these signs indicate that those lanes are open for leisure swimmers to splash around. Again, in off seasons leisure swimmers are welcome in our pool but please be courteous of those that have come to workout.
  4. Please shower before entering the pool- Please understand that any foreign matter into the pool compromises the cleanliness of the water, this includes body lotion, tanning oils, hair conditioner, deodorant etc. Please help us keep a clean pool and take a “cleansing” shower before entering the pool.

Aquatic Department Rules

  • All members and guests must shower off before entering the pool
  • Children under the age of 3 must wear proper swim attire of 3 layers. Swim diaper, plastic pant and swim suit. No exceptions.
  • No diving, running or horseplay allowed
  • Hot tub age requirements must be followed at all times.
  • Aquatic monitors may stop any act that is deemed unsafe, destructive, or inappropriate

For all swim lessons, participants must be at least 3 years old to sign up. Swim lessons are offered to both members and nonmembers.

Private Swim Lessons

Private swim lessons are offered year-round and provide a one-on-one experience, instructor to the participant. Instructors will teach any individual at any skill level.

Swim lesson sign-up sheets are linked below. After you have completed the form, turn it to the front desk at our River Road location.

Summer Group Lessons

There are nine weeks of group lessons offered through the summer. Each session consists of a 30 minutes lesson held Monday through Thursday. There are 7 times offered each day, 4 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. All levels are taught during each time.

  • Level 1: is our youngest group, generally involving children who are new to the water. Our biggest goal for level 1 is learning water safety. Level 1 swimmers will learn how to enter and exit the water safely, float on their stomach and back, as well as hold their breath and kick.
  • Level 2: swimmers will learn how to tread water, coordinate their arms and legs in order to attempt freestyle and backstroke, jump into the water and be able to swim back to the wall on their own.
  • Level 3: swimmers will master freestyle and backstroke and attempt breaststroke, butterfly, and dives.
  • Level 4: swimmers will be able to perform all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) as well as performing a proper dive.

To sign up for summer group lessons first, reserve a spot in your desired session and time by typing your child’s first and last name on the spreadsheet. If you are signing up more than one child, make sure to type only one name in each spot. Then print and turn your completed group lesson form into the front desk at our River Road location.
