Pickleball has rapidly gained popularity across the country, and at Summit Athletic Club, it’s more than just a trend—it’s a dynamic, low-impact sport that promotes community, fitness, and fun. Whether you’re brand new to the game or a seasoned player, there are countless reasons why pickleball is becoming a favorite among members of all ages.

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It’s played on a smaller court, usually doubles, with a paddle and a perforated plastic ball. The rules are simple, the game is easy to learn, and it’s accessible for all skill levels and age groups.

Why Pickleball is the Perfect Fitness Option

Low-Impact, High-Energy

Unlike high-impact sports that can stress the joints, pickleball is low-impact and joint-friendly. This makes it ideal for older adults or anyone recovering from injury, while still providing a good cardio workout that improves endurance, agility, and coordination.

Quick to Learn, Easy to Enjoy

Pickleball rules are easy to understand, making it an ideal sport for beginners. Most new players can jump into a game within minutes and begin improving their skills almost immediately. At Summit Athletic Club, we offer beginner-friendly courts and clinics that help newcomers get started confidently.

Great for Socializing

Pickleball isn’t just about fitness—it’s also about connection. The smaller court size and doubles format encourage communication, teamwork, and camaraderie. It’s a fantastic way to meet new people, spend time with friends, or connect with family members over a shared activity.

Pickleball at Summit Athletic Club

Summit offers members access to well-maintained indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, along with opportunities for open play, leagues, tournaments, and instructional classes. Whether you’re looking to play casually or competitively, our club provides everything you need.

Instructional Clinics and Open Play

Our pickleball instructors are available to teach basic skills, strategies, and proper technique. Regular open play times give members a chance to drop in, join a game, and get to know others in the pickleball community.

Member and Non-Member Access

While Summit members enjoy access as part of their membership, we also offer drop-in rates for non-members. If you’re curious about the sport, this is a great way to try it out before committing.
