Youth Certification Program

We’re thrilled to offer the Summit Youth Certification program at Summit Athletic Club! Tailored for youth members ages 9 to 14, this program provides a structured and engaging introduction to fitness that’s both fun and educational. Participants will progress through stages specifically designed to align with their age and maturity, ensuring a safe, effective, and rewarding experience. As they advance, they’ll not only develop strength and coordination but also gain valuable life skills like goal setting and teamwork. Our goal is to inspire young members to build healthy exercise habits that will last a lifetime, all while enjoying the process in a supportive and energetic environment.

Level 1

“The Cardio Club”

Ages 9-10

$15.00

30-Minute Certification

Participants will meet with a designated youth trainer and learn:

  • Gym Etiquette: Learn the essentials to stay safe and respectful
  • Cardio Equipment You Can Use:
    • Elliptical
    • Bikes
    • Rowers (Sunset only)
    • Track (River only)
  • Eligible Classes: Discover which classes you can participate in.

 

Level 2

“the Gym Goer”

Ages 9-10

$20.00

45-Minute Certification

Participants will meet with the designated youth trainer (includes Step 1) and will:

  • Gym Etiquette: Understand key guidelines to stay safe and respectful
  • Cardio Equipment You Can Use:
    • Elliptical
    • Bikes
    • Rowers (Sunset only)
    • Track (River only)
  • Machine Usage for Main Muscle Groups: Learn how to work each muscle effectively
  • Eligible Classes: Find out which classes you’re ready to join.

Level 3

“the Weightlifting Club”

Ages 13-14

$25.00

60-Minute Certification

Participants will meet with the designated youth trainer (includes Step 1 & Step 2) and will:

  • Gym Etiquette: Master the basics to feel confident and safe
  • Cardio Equipment You Can Use:
    • Elliptical
    • Bikes
    • Rowers (Sunset/Bluff only)
    • Track (River only)
  • Machine Usage for Each Main Muscle Group
  • Master Equipment-Use Exercises:
    • Dumbbells
    • Medicine Ball
    • Kettle bell
    • Body Weight Exercises
  • Eligible Classes: Explore which classes you can join.

Price is only $5.00 if child has previously been certified and is advancing up 1 to the next level and $10.00 if they are advancing up 2 levels

Summit Youth Policies

“Youth” is defined as any individual age 15 years or younger.

  • Ages 0-6 months:
    • Must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
    • Cannot use steam rooms, saunas, whirlpools, the downstairs weight room, or attend any classes.
  • Ages 6 months to 8 years:
    • Must attend childcare while a parent/guardian is using the facility.
  • Ages 9-14 years:
    • Must be a member of SAC.
    • Must hold a current Youth Certification.
    • Must have a parent/guardian on the premises.
    • Only certified youth age 14+ may be on the premises without a parent/guardian.

Additional Rules for Youth:

  • Treadmills: Not allowed for anyone under 15 years old.
  • Steam rooms, tanning, saunas, whirlpools, The Cave, the downstairs weight room, and hot classes are prohibited for anyone under 15 years old.

Please Note:

  • These guidelines may be adjusted for Summit Athletic Club-sponsored programs (e.g., pool usage, swim lessons, pickleball lessons, childcare fitness, etc.) based on specific program needs.
